Edie, 29, lives with his partner, Lola, and runs a small business in the region where he grew up. Edie is happy, or almost: the only thing missing from his life is a child. But his relentless insistence drives a wedge between them, and Lola leaves him. Unable to cope with the breakup, Edie tapes a balloon to his stomach and gradually inflates it, pretending to himself that he is pregnant. He hopes this will bring Lola back, but his trap ends up closing in on him.
